1. About OpenClinic

OpenClinic (getopenclinic.com) is a verified directory of English-speaking clinics in Tokyo, Japan, and a provider of bilingual medical navigation services for foreign patients and organisations. These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the website, the clinic search app, and any related services that OpenClinic agrees to provide to you. By accessing the site or using any service you agree to these Terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or have the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, to use paid services. The informational directory and search tool are available to all users.

3. Not medical advice

OpenClinic is an information and navigation service. Nothing on this website, in the clinic directory, or delivered as part of any OpenClinic service constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Clinic listings, hours, language capabilities, and specialties are provided for informational purposes only and may change without notice.

This service is not intended for emergencies or time-critical care decisions. Always consult a qualified, licensed healthcare professional for medical decisions. In a medical emergency in Japan, call 119 (ambulance) or 110 (police).

4. No professional relationship

Your use of the site or services does not create a doctor-patient, hospital-patient, attorney-client, or certified interpreter relationship between you and OpenClinic. OpenClinic is a navigator and coordinator only.

5. Clinic directory accuracy

OpenClinic verifies clinic listings using publicly available data, direct clinic contact, and periodic reviews. However, clinic hours, languages offered, accepted payment methods, staff availability, and other details may change at any time. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any listing.

We recommend contacting the clinic directly before visiting, especially for urgent or specialist care. While we take reasonable steps to verify listings, you remain responsible for confirming material details directly with the clinic before relying on them. OpenClinic is not responsible for losses arising from inaccurate or changed third-party clinic information except to the extent caused by OpenClinic's wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or as otherwise required by law.

6. Navigation services

Paid services (Foreign Patient Concierge, Cross-Border Medical Summary, Japan Case Support Retainer, Foreign Patient Experience Audit, or any custom engagement) are subject to separate written agreements or email confirmations that supersede these Terms where they conflict. Until a separate agreement is executed, these Terms govern.

OpenClinic does not provide licensed medical care, and unless expressly stated in a separate agreement, does not provide certified translation or licensed medical interpretation services. Documents and summaries we produce are for informational continuity only and are not official medical records or certified translations.

The scope, fees, deliverables, and timelines for any paid service will be set out in the applicable proposal, order confirmation, or separate agreement.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, copy, or republish the clinic directory or any part of the site for commercial purposes without written permission, except as permitted by applicable law.
• Use the site or services in any way that violates applicable law or regulation.
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information through any form or inquiry.
• Attempt to access, disrupt, or interfere with the technical infrastructure of the site.
• Use automated tools to query the site at a rate that materially burdens our systems.

8. No warranty

The site and directory are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by applicable law. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

9. Intellectual property

All content on this site — including text, design, database compilations, and the verified clinic data — is owned by or licensed to OpenClinic and is protected by applicable copyright and database rights. Nothing in these Terms grants you a licence to reproduce or redistribute that content beyond normal browsing use.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, OpenClinic will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site or services — including delays in receiving care, incorrect or outdated clinic information, or outcomes of any clinical visit.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. Where liability may be limited under applicable law, OpenClinic's total liability arising out of or relating to the paid services will not exceed the amount paid by you to OpenClinic for the specific service giving rise to the claim.

11. Third-party links and services

The directory links to external clinic websites and may show information sourced from Google Maps or other third-party platforms. OpenClinic is not responsible for the content, availability, accuracy, or privacy practices of those external sites or third-party platforms.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the site or services if you violate these Terms, misuse the service, or create legal, security, or operational risk for OpenClinic or its users.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. To the extent permitted by applicable law, disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or your use of the service shall be submitted to the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance.
